What is the story based on? Movie 2 of the series “History: Science or Fiction?”
From ancient times to the present day, the entire history of mankind is clearly dated. In numerous historical and archaeological reference books, you can find the answer to almost any question. Museums around the world store unique exhibits, witnesses of bygone eras. Among them, it is unlikely that there will be at least one on the plate on which it will be written: “unknown origin” or “unknown age”. All of these articles are meticulously grouped and arranged in strict chronological order. But why did scientists come to the conclusion that, for example, this jug belongs to the 5th century BC? C. and this, to the VIII century d. C.? It is generally accepted that the methods for determining the age of ancient objects are well proven and, most importantly, highly reliable. But is it really so? Is world history really based on rigorous scientific evidence?
